Steaming is a cooking method that is reserved for the freshest of any food, especially seafood that isn’t freshly dispatched. Day & Night Angus Beef & King Crab is a restaurant that prides itself in serving the best and freshest seafood steamed. More on that later.
As you enter the restaurant you will be greeted with two impressive cabinets; one displaying fine imported wine and exotic liquor, and another with fresh Angus beef and fine foie gras. Walking past the screen, you will next be fascinated by the aquarium-esque decor where the dining space is surrounded by tanks containing Alaskan King Crabs, Atlantic Lobsters, and various exotic shellfish.
Every table is equipped with a steaming pot, with every pot connected to the central steam circulation system pumping out fresh steam from distilled water. Order yourself a set course meal or seafood a la carte, and it will be brought to your table fresh (do take a picture if you order a big crab) before being cleaned and prepared for steaming.
As the meal is started, numerous ingredients are placed below the steaming rack - smoked turkey, pork belly, mushrooms and such. These will be cooked into a soup when the steam condenses into water, while extracting the flavours of the seafood you will be enjoying.
Even the mussels and clams offered by Day & Night has been specially sourced to bring the finest taste to customers. The mussels are from Salt Lake City, and are fuller bodied than average, with edible parts spanning the entirety of the shell cavity. The clams are kept in clean water until all the sand and mud has been filtered out before serving, which ensures no residue when chewing.
Atlantic Lobsters, as with King Crabs, are thoroughly cleaned and cut to sizeable pieces when served. There is enough pieces for everyone, while every piece has substantial amounts of meat to be enjoyed. Aside from clean cuts, the chef has also made a number of incisions on harder shells such as on pincers and its joints, all to make it easier to enjoy the food.
No seasoning has been added to the seafood throughout preparation, it had sweet undertones complementing the perfect texture of the meats. For those seeking additional flavours, they will be pleased to find a wide array of sauces and condiments, with flavours from around the world such as Thai, Curry, and Cajun sauces.
Once the seafood has been finished, customers can enjoy steamed fresh vegetables or have the soup underneath once the steaming rack is removed. The soup has soaked up all of the flavours of the seafood that have been steamed, a dash of salt will help bring them out.
Aside from steaming your seafood, Day & Night also offers to prepare your seafood by grilling or sashimi, in case you wanted something different. You can have yourself a fancy steak dinner if you so choose or you can also have ramen made from thick broth prepared by steaming.
If you think having seafood at Day & Night Angus Beef & King Crab will be expensive, think again. You get more than what you pay for, and their prices are marginally lower than that of restaurants such as Red Lobster with fresher food. There are packages and dishes that fit every budget, whether it is celebrating a special occasion or hanging out with a friend, Day & Night has you covered.
